Yván Gil, Foreign Minister of Venezuela, during his stay in Geneva to participate in the 52nd session of the Council of Human rights of United Nations (Cdhnu), held bilateral meetings with the Iranian Foreign Minister, Hosein Amir Abdolahian, and the Vice Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, Candith Kwati Mashengo-Dlamini, to continue defending the United Nations Charter.
Meetings were also held with the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter, on behalf of which Venezuela intervened during the High Level Panel on the Right to Development and there was a meeting with the Executive Director of the South Center
Gil’s meetings took place outside the world forum in which the Venezuelan diplomat denounced the continuity of the actions of neocolonialism, with the imposition of more than 927 coercive and illegal measures against the country that affect the national economy. The foreign minister highlighted how Venezuela remains firm and committed to the defense of Human Rights.

Gil stressed that Caracas and Tehran ratified “the shared willingness to work to strengthen binational relations and promote the group of friends of the UN Charter, for the good of humanity.”
The head of the highest instance of Iranian Diplomacy also arrived in Geneva to participate in the 52nd session of the UNCRC and the annual session of the Conference on Disarmament, reported a bulletin from the persian agency irna.
In his speech before the 52nd Regular Session of the, Amir Abdolahian stressed that “the United States is responsible for most of the systematic and serious violations of human rights, since it occupies the first place in terms of aggressions and interventions military, coups d’état and economic embargoes against other countries”.
At the meeting with the delegation that accompanied Gil, on the Iranian side, in addition to Amir Abdolahian, the Vice President for International Affairs of the Judiciary and Secretary of the Supreme Council for Human Rights of Iran, Kazem Qaribabadi, and the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Iran, Naser Kanani.
In another bilateral meeting, Foreign Minister Gil held a meeting with the Vice Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, Ms. Candith Kwati Mashengo-Dlamini.
The Venezuelan Foreign Minister pointed out that the meeting with the South African official served as the setting to ratify the “commitment to continue strengthening the ties of cooperation and brotherhood in favor of the integral development of both nations.”
Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter
The Venezuelan foreign minister also participated before the Cdhnu on behalf of the Group of Friends in Defense of the United Nations Charter.
Venezuela intervened in the High Level Panel on the Right to Development, “an inalienable human right that is flagrantly violated when hegemonic countries impose unilateral sanctions against sovereign peoples,” Gil said.
The Venezuelan mission also held a meeting with the Executive Director of the South Center, Carlos María Correa, during which an exchange of visions took place “on the role that developing countries represent in the world economy and the value of international mechanisms for contribute to sustainable development”, explained Gil.
In Geneva, Gil defended the Venezuelan position regarding the need to strengthen the institutional framework of the UN Human Rights Council, expressed solidarity with Türkiye and Syria after the earthquakes, denounced the kidnapping of Venezuelan diplomat Álex Saab, which violates UN agreements, and He highlighted the visit to Venezuela of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, during which the two-year cooperation and technical assistance agreement on Human Rights was signed.
