Venezuela condemns terrorist attack in Iran

The Government of President Nicolás Maduro, through a statement, spoke out to condemn and reject the terrorist attack that occurred on Wednesday in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

This was stated on his Twitter social network account by the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Carlos Faría.

In the document, Venezuela indicates its rejection of any act of a terrorist nature and expresses its condolences to the families and relatives of the victims.

On Wednesday, an explosion occurred at a mosque in the southeastern Iranian city of Zahedan, leaving at least 15 dead and dozens injured, according to official sources.

According to Prensa Latina, the initial investigations pointed to the participation of three attackers, two of them allegedly detained.

However, the latest update indicates that the perpetrator was a man, who was injured by the security forces and is in custody.

The attack occurred on the busiest day of the day when people flocked to the shrine and the mosque, in accordance with local tradition.

The rescue and ambulance services are at the scene to attend to the victims and an update is expected in later hours, as well as other details of the attack and official pronouncements.

The Shia mosque where the attack took place is located in Zahedan, capital of the troubled province of Sistan-Baluchistan.

In the temple, which has been practically destroyed; celebrated one of the most important festivals of its Islamic calendar, the pilgrimage of Fatima, daughter of the prophet Mohammed.
