Venezuela condemns new US aggression against the people’s economy

Venezuela rejects statement on Americans detained in the country

This Saturday the Government of the Republic of Venezuela spoke out forcefully, through a statement, to condemn the most recent aggression by the United States against the Venezuelan people.

This was announced by the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Carlos Faría, through a statement that he published on his Twitter account, where he published “The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela strongly condemns a new attempt by the US Congress to violate the economic rights of the Venezuelan people and offend the memory of the Liberator, Simón Bolívar”.

The statement responds to the approval on Friday, by the United States Senate, of the Law for the Prohibition of Operations and Leases with the Illegitimate Authoritarian Regime of Venezuela (Bolívar, for its acronym in English) to prohibit federal agencies from establishing businesses with any company that supports the government of President Nicolás Maduro.

The legal instrument seeks to penalize companies that maintain commercial dealings with Venezuela and, in this way, deepen the impact of coercive measures on the Venezuelan people.

The text of the official document rejects the bill both in its name and in its content, for violating economic freedoms and representing “a serious offense to the Venezuelan people.”

He assures that it is “contrary to international law and conceived from the extremist sectors of United States politics.”

Likewise, it points out that “it demonstrates, once again, the cruelty of ultra-conservative and coup-mongering sectors in US politics that repeat their attempt to overthrow the Venezuelan government.”

It indicates that the action of the United States Congress shows that these sectors “have no interest in seeing a development process in Venezuela.”

Likewise, it rejects the name of the proposed law, “for offending the Venezuelan people, its history and its Liberator.”

Finally, the statement states that Venezuela “will follow its own path of political stability and peace diplomacy.”
