Venezuela condemns cyber attack perpetrated by Israel against Lebanese residents

Venezuela thanks Cuba for rejecting new coercive measures

Venezuela strongly condemned the cyber attack perpetrated by the State of Israel on Tuesday against the inhabitants of Lebanon, which claimed the lives of 12 people and left more than 2,800 injured.

This was stated in an official statement issued by the Foreign Ministry of the Bolivarian country, which deplored the explosion of the personal locators of thousands of people due to the Israeli attack, which also generated panic and anxiety among the defenseless civilian population of Lebanon.

The full statement is below:

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela strongly condemns the cyber attack perpetrated by Israel against the inhabitants of southern Lebanon, Beirut and its surroundings, on September 17, 2024, which left at least 12 people dead and 2,800 injured, including His Excellency the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran accredited to the Lebanese Republic, HE Mojtaba Amani, as a result of simultaneous explosions in portable locators for personal use.

This type of practice, which generates violence, fatalities and destruction, also causes panic and anxiety among the defenseless civilian population. This attack, carried out through a sophisticated method of terror and intimidation of the population, is added to the abhorrent techniques used by hostile governments in the dangerous and growing escalation of political and military tension in the Middle East.

Venezuela, in keeping with its historic position as a promoter of peace and the defense of the right to life, warns that the silence of the international community in the face of the perverse and systematic violation of the principles contemplated in international humanitarian law and the failure to observe the provisions of all international laws and conventions by regimes that encourage terrorism, only fuels the aspirations of those who wish to unleash a dangerous escalation of violence with unimaginable consequences in the region.

The Bolivarian Government expresses its most sincere feelings of closeness to the Lebanese People and Government for this unfortunate event, while sending a message of encouragement and solidarity to the families of the victims and wounded. We reiterate our confidence in the promotion of genuine dialogue for the resolution of differences and in the fraternal ties that unite the peoples of the world, as fundamental tools for maintaining peace and the well-being of our nations.
