Venezuela completed a year with sustained economic growth

The president of the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV), Calixto Ortega, informed that the country has sustained its economic growth during the last year with two digit numberswhich has been described as positive by the government.

According to Ortega, Venezuelan economic activity grew by 14.65% in the third quarter of 2021 and 19.07% in the fourth quarter and compared to 2020. At the same time, he highlighted that the growth registered at the end of 2021 was the second highest in the region.

In this balance it is added that, during the first three months of 2022, economic growth was 17.04% and that between April and June it rose 18.70%, which he described as “an unprecedented moment” that gives them reasons to be optimistic in what remains of 2022.

Although it was highlighted that the expansion figures are due to his work to strengthen monetary, fiscal and exchange policiesthe local currency (the bolívar) fell by 27% against the dollar during the last week.
