kenya independence

Kenya achieved independence from the United Kingdom in 1963, establishing multipartyism as a national dynamic in 1992, which culminated in 2002 with the peaceful transfer of power between the country’s president since 1978, Daniel arap Moi, and the then new Kenyan president, Mwai Kibaki.

A new constitution was promulgated in 2010, and since then several presidential elections have been held, the last of which was held in August 2022.

strengthened relationships

Venezuela and Kenya maintain friendship since April 1970, which are based on cordiality, respect and solidarity.

It should be remembered that Commander Hugo Chávez during his administration strengthened bilateral relations with countries on the African continent, as part of his South-South cooperation policy.

Venezuela and Kenya signed in 2009 a Agreement of Energy Cooperation, in order to promote and bilaterally develop the field of the energy and oil industry, in the areas of exploitation, production, storage, transportation, refining and distribution of hydrocarbons.

Recently, both countries strengthened ties of bilateral cooperation in the energy area after a meeting between the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic, Carlos Fariaand the Minister of Energy, Oil and Mining of Kenya, Mónica Juma.
