Venezuela carries out its first export of liquefied gas, reports Delcy Rodríguez

On January 16, Delcy Rodríguez announced the signing of a contract for the first time export of liquefied petroleum gas; However, the duration of the agreement and with whom it was signed is unknown.

Delcy Rodríguez, in charge of the national Executive, reported through her social networks that this Sunday, February 1, the ship Chrysopigi Lady set sail with the first shipment of liquefied petroleum gas, after a marketing agreement signed two weeks ago.

Rodríguez, through a message via Telegram, said she was “proud” to share the information, but did not give details about the destination of the first export.

The official pointed out that, together with PDVSA workers, “Venezuela marked a historic milestone” by exporting liquefied petroleum gas for the first time.

On January 16, the head of the Executive announced the signing of a contract for the first time export of liquefied petroleum gas; However, the duration of the agreement and with whom the agreement was signed is unknown.

Venezuela had been announcing for months that it was managing the process for the export of gas, despite the sanctions that the United States imposed on the oil industry in 2019.

The National Assembly unanimously approved the reform of the Organic Hydrocarbons Law, promoted by Rodríguez, with the aim of encouraging private and foreign investment in the oil sector, taking into account that currently the president of the United States, Donald Trump, is committed to revitalizing the infrastructure in this country.

Due to the changes approved in the parliamentary session, spaces have been opened for private participation in primary activities (exploration, extraction, collection, transportation and storage) as well as for foreign investment, giving rise to conflicts being resolved “through alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, including mediation and arbitration.”

Rodríguez presented the reform days after the military attack carried out by the United States Government, which resulted in the capture of Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. Likewise, the presentation occurred after Trump assured that the sale of Venezuelan oil will be made under the tutelage of his country, which closed an agreement this month with Caracas for 500 million dollars.
