Venezuela calls the DR’s decision to allow the use of airports by the US as “imperial folly”.

Venezuela tilda de “locura imperial” la decisión de RD de permitir uso de aeropuertos por EE.UU.

Caracas.- The Minister of the Interior of Venezuela, Diosdado Hairdescribed this Wednesday as “imperial folly” the Dominican Republic’s decision to provisionally allow the United States to use two airports in Santo Domingo as part of the anti-drug operation ‘Lanza del Sur’, promoted by Washington in the region.

«In the imperial follies, they threaten us every day, every day they invent something and if they don’t invent it they recycle it. It makes me want to laugh that today I see that the president of the Dominican Republic (Luis Abinader) authorizes US flights. You were not born and that airport belongs to the gringos. But they recycle,” Cabello said in his weekly program ‘Con el mallet giving’, broadcast on the state channel VTV.

Likewise, he stated that there is a “narrative” that has been dropped and cited the Cartel of the Suns, a group that the United States designated as terrorist this Monday and that he claims is led by the Venezuelan president, Nicolas Maduroand other officials of his Government, although Cabello considers that it is an “invention.”

«Today, on the table, for the entire world, it is clear that what the United States wants is to steal Venezuela’s natural resources. That’s why they disguise everything to try to justify,” said the considered number two of Chavismo.

In addition, Cabello announced a phase of organization in communities “for whatever circumstance” and spoke of defending the country in moments of tension due to the United States military deployment in the Caribbean, which Maduro considers an attempt to promote a regime change.

In this sense, he explained that, starting this Thursday and until Saturday, Venezuela will go to the “communities phase”, from where they will organize to “defend the revolution” and the “homeland.”

The US will “provisionally” use two airports in the Dominican Republic as part of its fight against drug trafficking in the region through Operation ‘Lance of the South’, President Abinader and the US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, stated this Wednesday after meeting at the National Palace.

The International airports of the Americas and the military airport of San Isidroboth in the province of Santo Domingo, will allocate areas for the transportation of equipment and technical personnel as part of Washington’s operations in the Caribbean, Abinader stated in the presence of Hegseth, the first US Secretary of Defense to make an official visit to the country.

Abinader did not offer further details about the scope of this collaboration, although he said that it falls within the “special permissions” granted to the United States under the bilateral security cooperation protocols.

Hegseth’s visit was announced by the Dominican Government as part of the strengthening of the fight of both countries against international drug trafficking and at a time when the United States is carrying out an operation to destroy speedboats leaving South America and which the Government of Donald Trump claims were destined for the United States.
