In a strong speech before the United Nations General Assembly, Venezuelan Chancellor Yván Gil reaffirmed Venezuela’s commitment to peace, self -determination and respect for international law, while denouncing the systematic aggressions perpetrated by the United States against the South American country.
Gil drew a historical tour that linked the independence struggle led by Simón Bolívar with the political project initiated by Commander Hugo Chávez in 1999, highlighting the continuity of a sovereign, fair and solidarity vision for Venezuela. “The Venezuelan people have learned to fight for their destiny,” said the chancellor, remembering the attempts of foreign intervention from the twentieth century to the present.
The Venezuelan representative denounced the existence of more than 1,000 unilateral sanctions imposed by Washington, qualifying them as a “cruel economic war” that seeks to destabilize the country and appropriate its natural resources. He also mentioned assassination attempts, mercenary incursions and a military threat that violates the UN letter and the US laws themselves.
In this context, the Foreign Minister warned about a new escalation of hostility: the presence of eight American destroying ships in the Caribbean Sea, pointing directly towards Venezuela. This naval maneuver, indicated by several countries in the region as an extreme provocation, seeks to promote a “regime change” and facilitate the looting of the vast oil and gas reserves of the country. Gil described this action as “absolutely illegal, immoral and dangerous for regional peace.”
“Venezuela does not represent a threat to any nation. We are a peaceful, solidarity country, and deeply committed to the construction of a world without empires or blackmail,” Gil said, thanking the support of organizations such as Celac, BRICs and the movement of non -aligned countries, which have rejected coercive actions against Venezuela.
The Chancellor also expressed solidarity with the peoples of Palestine, Cuba, Nicaragua, Iran, North Korea, Zimbabue, Eritrea and Belarus, and supported the initiatives of Russia and China in favor of a multipolar world order. “We face the new faces of colonialism and hegemonism, but we reaffirm our Bolivarian vocation of peace and resistance,” he said.
«A world where colonialism, slavery and exploitation disappear forever. And where peace can be consolidated, and as I said, the Venezuelan poet and singer Ali first, where humanity is human, ”he concluded.
With this pronouncement, Venezuela is positioned as a firm voice in defense of the peoples of the Global South, denouncing aggression policies and reaffirming their right to build a sovereign, fair and free future of external interference.
