The alternate ambassador of Venezuela to the United Nations Organization (UN), Joaquín Pérez Ayestarán, maintained that the Committees of experts of the hemispheric body must act under the principles of objectivity, transparency, without selectivity, nor politicization or confrontation.
It also urged not to allow the political instrumentalization of the Agreements by external actors.
These statements were made during his participation in the 35th Meeting of Chairs of Human Rights Treaty Bodies, as a representative of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter.
Through the twitter account of the Venezuelan Mission to the UN, it was detailed that the ambassador ratified the need to strengthen dialogue and cooperation.
For their part, the committees of independent experts have the mandate to monitor the application of the main international treaties on human rights.
In this sense, it is important to remember that in Venezuela there is a culture of human rights, proof of this is that they are a fundamental part of the Constitution of the Republic, which are promoted in the country by institutions such as the Ombudsman.
