The Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil, held a telephone conversation this Thursday with the president of the African Union (AU) Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, whom he thanked on behalf of the Government of Venezuela for the firm position of this bloc in defense of international law.
Through his Telegram channel, Gil pointed out that the African Union not only defends international legality and the Charter of the United Nations (UN), but also rejects the kidnapping of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, and the first combatant, Cilia Flores, after the military incursion on January 3 by the US.
In this regard, the chancellor highlighted: “Youssouf conveyed to us a message of solidarity towards the acting president Delcy Rodríguez, and towards the struggle of the Venezuelan people for the liberation and return of their leaders.”
Finally, he expressed that during the dialogue, the friendship between Venezuela and the African Union was reiterated, based on mutual respect, cooperation and peace diplomacy. With this approach, the Venezuelan nation ratifies its willingness to continue strengthening South-South unity and promoting the consolidation of a multipolar world.
