President Nicolás Maduro thanked the Government of the Russian Federation and the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, María Zajárova, for the support provided to national sovereignty.
This was announced by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, through his Telegram channel. The chancellor highlighted Russian solidarity in the face of imperial actions that that country’s spokesperson described as “warmongering and illegal.”
Zajárova denounced this Thursday that Washington’s measures constitute “legal chaos” contrary to international law. According to the Russian spokesperson, the military presence and the naval blockade violate the UN Charter and the 1982 Sea Convention, as they affect freedom of navigation.
Finally, the Venezuelan diplomat pointed out that Russia’s support is essential to preserve peace and promote regional stability. Bilateral cooperation, Gil stressed, reaffirms the commitment of both countries to international law.
