Foreign Minister Yván Gil, on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro Moros, expressed his deep gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Iran for supporting the request for an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council.
In a publication made through his Telegram account, Minister Gil classified Iran’s support as “crucial,” “in the search for measures protected by the UN Charter to stop the growing military escalation in the Caribbean.”
Iran emphasized that this US action “puts at risk the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Venezuela, as well as the peace and stability of the entire region.”
It should be noted that this Thursday, October 9, the national government formally requested an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council in the face of the serious escalation of aggression and unprecedented military deployment of the United States in the Caribbean.
In this regard, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of IranEsmaeil Baghai, has sent a warning about the repercussions of Washington’s “increasing acts of illegality and aggressive unilateralism” for global peace and stability. Furthermore, he urged the Security Council and the Secretary General of the United Nations to pay immediate attention to the “persistent insistence of the United States on illegally intervening in the internal affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, an independent Member State of the United Nations.”
