The Vice Minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania, Capaya Rodríguez, received the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Le Viet Duyen, and the Deputy Director of the Center for Technology Transfer and Agricultural Extension of the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Nguyen Xuan Dung, with the aim of advancing cooperation ties in agricultural matters.
Both diplomats addressed the matter of the “Cooperation for the development of rice production in Venezuela” project; as part of the preparatory actions for the visit that the delegation of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Vietnam will soon make to Venezuela, said a press release from the Foreign Ministry.
Also present at the meeting was the General Director of Integration and International Affairs of the Ministry of People’s Power for Communes and Social Movements, Mayerlin Colmenárez Betancourt, who expressed Venezuela’s willingness to restart agricultural cooperation for rice cultivation between the two countries.
Meanwhile, the representative of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Vietnam, reported on the technical work that has been carried out in the country since 2015 and the good results achieved, “thanks to the cooperation between Venezuela and Vietnam, in the execution of the first phase of it.
In this regard, Vice Minister Rodríguez stressed that despite the different challenges that Venezuela has faced, such as the illegal sanctions imposed by the United States of America and the spread of the covid-19 pandemic worldwide, the Government of the Constitutional President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, has outlined new strategies that contribute to the development of a more prosperous Venezuela.
In this sense, he assured that this is a historical and ideal moment to effectively develop rice production in the country, taking advantage of the great knowledge that the Socialist Republic of Vietnam has in this matter.
