Venezuela and Vietnam promote energy cooperation

The executive vice president of Venezuela and Minister of Petroleum, Delcy Rodríguez, met this Tuesday with the president of Vietnam, Luong Cuong, in order to strengthen relations between both nations, in addition to conveying the greetings of President Nicolás Maduro.

In a message published on the Instagram account of the Vice Presidency of the Republic, some details were specified about the reasons for his meeting with the aforementioned president.

“We are grateful for all the support that Vietnam has given to Venezuela in times of economic aggression against our homeland through the imposition of more than 900 unilateral coercive measures,” the official highlighted in the conversation with the Vietnamese president.

He assured that the visit also seeks to boost binational trade, cooperation in agriculture and above all “resuming energy cooperation so that Vietnamese companies in Venezuela produce crude oil that fuels our cooperation in different areas.”

After this meeting, Rodríguez met with her Vietnamese counterpart, Vo Thi Anh Xuan, in what was an expanded meeting where issues related to oil and agricultural matters were addressed, and then went to the Hanoi International Convention Center where she highlighted her admiration for the struggle of the people of Vietnam.

“We see the process of Vietnam defeating colonial powers, defeating empires, the most savage that humanity has known, but that the union, determination and courage of the people of Vietnam in defense of their national independence and dignity opened new paths for Vietnam,” highlighted the also Minister of Petroleum.

For her part, the Vietnamese vice president highlighted the importance of consolidating relations between the two countries, since both will contribute to the construction of a much more just and beneficial world for their respective peoples.

“We will achieve the potential between Vietnam and Venezuela in response to the wishes and benefits of both peoples. Likewise, contribute to the maintenance of peace and cooperation for the development of both regions and with the firm condition of a better future,” he noted.

Finally, Rodríguez went to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum where he presented a wreath in his honor, since the aforementioned revolutionary leader was always at the forefront in the defense of his country, against the desires of foreign powers.

Rodríguez’s visit to the aforementioned Indo-Asian country occurs within the framework of the commemorative activities of the thirty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries to be celebrated on December 18.
