Venezuela and Suriname signed several cooperation agreements

The foreign ministers of Venezuela and Suriname signed a framework agreement for the development of both countries. Work tables were set up to deal with issues of agriculture, air connectivity, higher education, health, mining, among others.


On the afternoon of Monday, January 10, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, and his counterpart from Suriname, Albert Ramdim, signed the minutes and the joint declaration of the V Meeting of the Political Consultation Mechanism between the two countries.

Thus, Venezuela and Suriname signed bilateral agreements, which were not detailed by the press release of the Chancellery. In March 2022, the then Minister of Foreign Affairs Félix Plasencia and his Surinamese counterpart, Albert Ramdin, reviewed and strengthened the relations of the two South American countries during the II Diplomatic Forum in Antalya, Turkey.

Also last year, the administration of Nicolás Maduro showed its solidarity with Suriname by sending more than 30 tons of food, medicine, medical supplies, drinking water, supplies and rescue equipment after the heavy rains that were recorded at the time in several districts. Surinamese.
