Foreign Minister Yván Gil spoke with Lindiwe Michelle Maseko, Ambassador of South Africa in Venezuela, to review the options that allow cooperation and strengthen relations
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, received the South African Ambassador to Venezuela, Lindiwe Michelle Maseko, at the Casa Amarilla on the afternoon of Monday the 19th, in order to hold a meeting to review the “opportunities” that exist in order to to strengthen relations between the two nations.
Gil reported on his meeting with the South African Ambassador for Twitterwhere he wrote that, in addition to exploring joint work options, they talked about different global issues.

On the other hand, a statement of the Foreign Ministry pointed out that Venezuela and South Africa maintain a “solid economic cooperation” with 18 signed agreements in the fields of politics, diplomacy, trade, energy, oil, gas, youth, education, security and communications.
Most of these agreements were signed at the Venezuela-South Africa Business Forum held in 2020, during which progress was also made in strategic alliances in mining, agriculture and tourism.
He newspaper Spain recall that in January 2023, President Nicolás Maduro and the South African Minister of Foreign Affairs, Naledi Pandor, spoke by telephone and discussed their intention to work together and strengthen the “cooperation map” between the two countries.

The Presidency of the Republic of South Africa reported on Monday, November 28, 2022 that Maduro was going on a state visit to that country on December 6 to meet his counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa, in Pretoria.
In the statement published on the official website of the South African Presidency, it was indicated on that occasion that the official visit that Maduro would make was intended to consolidate “the already solid relations” between the two countries and strengthen concrete actions of mutual benefit.
However, days before, Ramaphosa’s office indefinitely postponed the visit of the Venezuelan president to South Africa.
At that time, South Africa indicated that “the state visit will take place on a date to be mutually agreed by both countries through diplomatic channels”, without providing further details.
