Foreign Minister Carlos Faría held a meeting with his Serbian counterpart Nikola Selakovic, in order to celebrate the 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
The meeting was held yesterday at the Casa Amarilla headquarters in Caracas, where they ratified the commitments of Venezuela and Serbia to strengthen their friendship and cooperation.
“We signed together with Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovic a joint declaration that records the 140 years of diplomatic relations between our nations,” Minister Faría published on his twitter.
In addition, he highlighted, in another message, that the Bolivarian peace diplomacy has been the inspiration to start the new stage of bilateral relations, and that both countries have made clear their will to advance towards the defense of multilateralism and the sovereignty of towns.
He also reported on the start of political consultation mechanisms between delegations. And in other acts for the 140th anniversary of relations, the diplomats presented honors to the Liberator Simón Bolívar, with a floral offering at the National Pantheon. Likewise, they agreed to establish the beginning of relations from April 13, 1882, the Foreign Ministry said.
