Venezuela and Russia are evaluating increasing cooperation in food security, after the sanctions imposed on both countries by the US and the European Union, as indicated by the ambassador of the Eurasian nation in the South American country, Sergei Melik-Baghdasarov.
“In the atmosphere of solidarity we approach with [el] Minister [de Agricultura y Tierra]Wilmar Castro, ways to intensify cooperation in sustainable food security in the face of sanctions [de EEUU y la Unión Europea] developing the strategic association in favor of a new world order, multipolar and fair”, indicated the ambassador through his Twitter account.
In February, Russia’s deputy prime minister, Yuri Borísov, visited Caracas to strengthen the strategic alliance between his country and Venezuela. At that time, both nations established agreements in more than 20 areas of work. Borisov claimed that Russia is fully available to promote the strengthening of the strategic partnership between the countries.
Caracas and Moscow They have cooperation agreements in the areas: energy, finance, culture, sports, health, tourism and communication. In addition, they have maintained an alliance for more than 20 years, whose cooperation allowed them to sign more than 230 agreements. Russia became a strategic partner for Venezuela, to face the sanctions imposed by the US and some European countries, according to the Government.
