Venezuela and Russia review progress of bilateral cooperation

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, reported that Venezuela and Russia review progress in strengthening strategic bilateral cooperation after holding a high-level meeting with representatives of the Russian Government.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister received the director of the Latin American Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Alexander Shchetinin, with the aim of evaluating the progress of the joint agreements and strengthening the political alliance between both nations.

Through his official channels, Foreign Minister Gil highlighted that the meeting allowed special emphasis to be placed on the ties of brotherhood and solidarity that unite the two countries. This approach is part of the construction of a work agenda that seeks to deepen exchange in various areas of mutual interest, consolidating Russia as a key strategic partner for national development in the current geopolitical context.

Likewise, the head of Venezuelan diplomacy stressed that the consolidation of bilateral relations responds to the joint search for a multipolar world. This meeting reaffirms the commitment of both capitals to maintain close coordination in international forums and cooperation mechanisms that promote a global balance based on respect for the sovereignty and self-determination of peoples.

It should be noted that Venezuela and Russia maintain a “strategic partnership” strengthened with more than 42 new agreements signed by the end of 2025, focused on key areas such as energy, defense, finance, mining and technology, with a view to the year 2030. These pacts include military cooperation, use of drones, technological exchange, expansion of tourism and air transportation.
