Venezuela and Iran strengthened strategic cooperation with the signing of several agreements

Iran and Venezuela signed, among other things, a memorandum in which they exempt the visa between both countries and approved the creation of a binational chamber


On the night of Thursday, November 21, the delegations of Venezuela and Iran signed a series of agreements that strengthen strategic cooperation between both countries in areas such as diplomacy, tourism, energy, and technology.

Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, Minister of Transportation and responsible for the Venezuelan side, highlighted that the achievements between Iran and Venezuela are focused on bilateral well-being and that, in this new stage, a range of options opens up to promote shared economic development. and increase commerce, mobility and exchange via tourism.

In that sense, he reported that 17 areas of cooperation have been established in which several projects are advancing with 77 instruments, of which 80% “have made significant progress.”

One of the most significant agreements has to do with the one signed between the National Information Technology Center of Venezuela and the Modern Data Center Development Company (MDC) of Iran related to training in Artificial Intelligence.

In this regard, Velásquez Araguayán pointed out that an Iranian businessman is willing to “equip 50 schools” with “equipment for learning artificial intelligence.”

Another that stands out was the memorandum of understanding in which visa requirements are waived for holders of ordinary passports of both countries.

In addition, the Venezuelan-Iranian Economic Integration Chamber (Caveniran) was formed, which will bring together businessmen from both countries with the purpose of “promoting economic cooperation” and the “exchange of products.”

The president of this commission on the Iranian side, the Minister of Defense, Aziz Nasirzadeh, assured that the meeting “is a sign of deep political trust, building solid positions in all the situations that have arisen in recent decades.”

Likewise, he expressed feeling “very pleased” to be in the “beautiful country of Venezuela,” and assured that “geographical distance has never been an obstacle to the deepening of bilateral relations.”

For his part, President Nicolás Maduro highlighted that there have been 20 years of uninterrupted work with Iran strengthening ties between both countries, describing the four-day work agenda carried out by the delegations as “perfect.”

«Iran has a solid economy and is respected in Asia and the world. That is why, with this cooperation, the ties of a new world are strengthened. This relationship that we are weaving is like weaving the new world, with our own hands, at our own pace, with the pride of being what we are, we are a people full of history, the strength that comes to us from Guaicaipuro, the liberators and the Commander Chávez, who acted to outline his own model for Venezuela (…) we are weaving our own model of independence to build maximum happiness,” said Maduro.

In addition, he said that the country is ready to receive “large contingents of tourists” to get to know the country and said that Venezuela can serve as a travel point that opens the door to South America for Iranians who want to visit it.
