Venezuela and Iran strengthen bilateral strategic cooperation

With the purpose of strengthening the relations strategic bilateral cooperation and fulfill a work agenda, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ossein Amir Abdollahian, arrived in Venezuela this Friday.

according to a note of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, the Foreign Minister arrived at the Simón Bolívar International Airport in La Guaira at dawn this Friday. He was received by the Minister for Transportation, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán; the Vice Minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania, Tatiana Pugh; together with the Persian ambassador accredited in Caracas, Hojjatolah Soltani.

During his visit to Caracas, the Iranian Foreign Minister will hold meetings with the different authorities of the national Government to carry out a full work agenda, which seeks to strengthen the strategic relations between both countries.

Strategic cooperation in defense of sovereignty

Before the arrival of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ossein Amir Abdollahian, the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, welcomed him and stated that Venezuela continues to bet on strengthening cooperation between both countries, to strengthen self-determination of the towns

Venezuela–Iran relations

In June 2022, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, visited Iran during his Eurasian tour, met with his counterpart Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, with whom he achieved advances in joint support in the economic and commercial sphere.

The relationships between Venezuela and Iran They date back to the 1960s, and their ties have been strengthened during the Bolivarian Revolution. Bilateral cooperation is part of joint initiatives to combat the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States government (USA), said the note from the Foreign Ministry.

Venezuela and Iran have signed different agreements to promote development in various areas, including science and technology.

In November of last year, they signed agreements for educational training, nanotechnology, biotechnology, petrochemicals, probiotics, dosimetry, radiology, fiber optics, social data analysis, among others.

Credentials

At the beginning of January 2023, the Venezuelan ambassador to Iran, José Silva Aponte, presented the cards that accredit him as a representative of the country, in front of the president of Iran, Ebrahim Raisin.

In this sense, through the Twitter account of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, It was detailed that, during the delivery of the letters, the greeting was extended by President Nicolás Maduro.
