Venezuela and Colombia agreed to strengthen cooperation

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yvan Giland the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, Jorge Rojas Rodríguez, agreed to strengthen bilateral exchanges in various areas.

“We have agreed to strengthen economic, commercial and cultural exchanges within the framework of the complementary cooperation process,” said Gil.

He also stressed that this process is being promoted by the heads of state of both nations, Nicolás Maduro and Gustavo Petro.

“We have been analyzing the state of relations, especially the economic, commercial, exchange, and future projects, and we have reviewed the entire cooperation agenda that was relaunched after President (Gustavo) Petro took office and the restoration of bilateral relations,” Gil said.

He also commented that by 2024 “we will surely surpass one billion dollars, we continue working to ensure that air, land transport and cultural exchange continues to grow.”

For his part, the representative of Colombia stated that “we have come to strengthen the bilateral relationship, to enhance the mechanisms that we have established within the framework of the commission of neighborhood and integration between Colombia and Venezuela, which has already exceeded 800 million dollars in trade relations.”

“As the foreign minister says, we want to surpass one billion this year, so it has been a good visit and we thank the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela for its willingness at all times to support peace in Colombia, and Venezuela, in its autonomy and sovereignty, can count on Colombia to advance political peace, democracy and the full validity of human rights throughout the region, which is a commitment to our values ​​that identify us,” he said.
