Venezuela and China consolidate bilateral relations

The Minister for Foreign Relations, Yván Gil, held a meeting on Tuesday with the Chinese ambassador to the country, Li Baorong, in order to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations.

Through his account on the social network Twitter, the Venezuelan foreign minister explained that, during the meeting, congratulations were extended for the re-election of Xi Jinping as president of the People’s Republic of China, last Friday.

“On behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, we convey our sincere congratulations to the Chinese Ambassador, Li Baorong, for the election of President Xi Jinping and the Prime Minister of the Council of State, Li Qiang, with whom we are committed to deepening the bilateral strategic association”, he wrote on his Twitter account.

Last Friday, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, congratulated Xi Jinping for being re-elected as president for a third term.

Through a statement, Venezuela stated that it trusts the great Chinese nation to continue advancing rapidly towards the achievement of a modern socialist society, which will benefit both the millennial Chinese people and the entire world.

The 69-year-old Chinese leader was unanimously re-elected during the 14th session of the National People’s Congress.

He was also re-elected president of the country’s Central Military Commission.
