The Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Cairo, Wilmer Barrientos, denounced the intensification of United States threats against national sovereignty and regional stability and warned about an uninformation campaign of the US government
During an interview granted to journalists Abdallah Gamal and Nasser Zoo al Fakar, from the Egyptian media Bawaba News, the ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Cairo, Wilmer Barrientos, denounced the intensification of US threats against national sovereignty and regional stability, in addition to alerting about a systematic campaign of disinformation by the administration American, who seeks to justify interventionist actions in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Barrientos said that the recent militarization of the Caribbean by Washington responds to a “false pretext of combating drug trafficking”, remembering that Venezuela is certified by the United Nations Organization as free territory of illicit crops. In that sense, he said that only 5 % of drug trafficking tries to travel through Venezuelan routes, and so far from 2025 52 tons of illegal and neutralized substances have been seized 400 aircraft linked to organized crime.
Likewise, the ambassador compared the current media narrative with the case of Iraq, where they used the argument of the weapons of mass destruction to justify an invasion. “This campaign seeks to hide the theft of more than 40 billion dollars in Venezuelan resources through illegal sanctions,” he said.
Barrientos called on the international community to prevent a similar tragedy from being repeated: “We convene unity to defend peace and sovereignty.”
On the diplomatic plane, Barrientos highlighted the historical links between Venezuela and Egypt, established 75 years ago on the basis of mutual respect and cooperation.
“Both countries share a vision of a multipolar world order and develop joint projects in areas such as energy, culture and economy. Egypt is the door of Venezuela to the Arab world and Venezuela is the door of Egypt to Latin America,” he said, citing the head of Egyptian culture, Ahmed Foud Hanno.
The diplomat thanked the commitment of Egyptian journalists in the dissemination of truthful information, while reaffirming that the defense of Venezuela and support for Palestine constitutes the same battle for global justice.
