Venezuela advocates strengthening the role of the Parliamentary Network of the NAM

Venezuela expressed this Friday the need to promote the role of national parliaments in the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), whose general conference is taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan.

In her speech, the deputy and head of the Venezuelan delegation, Vanessa Montero, ratified the will to promote the role of national parliaments “in promoting world peace and sustainable development.”

“Exalting the need to work in coordination between all the parliaments of the member countries with the aim of seeking common solutions to the challenges facing humanity today,” he said in his speech, which was broadcast on VTV.

He welcomed the creation of the Parliamentary Network of the NAM and the role of the countries that make it up in the “construction of a more humane world.”

For this reason, he thanked the Network for its support for the candidacy of the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, to take office Vice President of the Latin American Group, in which he was elected by consensus.

“We declare the decision and will of the people, the Government and the Parliament of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to make every effort to achieve the unity of this Parliamentary Network,” he added.

against sanctions

The second vice president of the AN ratified the need to encourage the hegemonic nations of the West “to return to the path of respect for international law and the rules of coexistence” established in the 10 Bandung Principles and the Charter of the United Nations.

He affirmed that Venezuela has faced more than 500 unilateral coercive measures that translate into economic blockades, threats, dispossession of assets and freezing “of bank accounts in foreign currency and gold.”

Despite this, Montero affirmed that the sanctions “have not been able to break the resistance of Venezuelans, who courageously defend integrity.”

“Venezuela has begun to embark on the path of economic recovery with signs that certify the growing political and social stability. From the government, the institutions, and in this case the National Assembly, we work tirelessly so that this recovery is fair and generates the necessary equality in the construction of a welfare state for all Venezuelans, “he said.

In addition to Montero, the delegation of deputies was made up of the president of the Permanent Commission on Foreign Policy, Sovereignty and Integration, Timoteo Zambrano; and the president of the Venezuela-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group, Juan Escalona.

In this meeting, which has the participation of 120 countries, the delegations discussed topics such as the preservation of global peace, security, human rights and the promotion of sustainable development.
