The Government of Venezuela accompanied this Tuesday the ambassador of the Russian Federation accredited in Caracas, Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov, to place a wreath at the monument of the Russian poet, Aleksander Pushkin, erected in the “Ezequiel Zamora” Park, on the occasion of the Day of the Russian Diplomatic Worker.
The event was headed by the director of the Foreign Ministry for Europe, Omar Berroterán, and the Russian ambassador Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov. The representatives of Russia and Venezuela highlighted patriotism as the common axis of both nations.
During the ceremony, Berroterán emphasized that being a good diplomat requires deeply loving the history and cultural heritage of the country, especially in a global context where sovereignty is fought for.
For his part, Ambassador Melik-Bagdasarov recalled that diplomacy aims to preserve peace and resolve conflicts through dialogue, even in times of instability and pressure on sovereign States.
Both diplomats ratified the Russian-Venezuelan strategic cooperation, which is based on the coincidence of visions about the polycentric world order and the strengthening of commercial and cultural ties.
Melik-Bagdasarov stressed that this relationship is based on equality and Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy to face current geopolitical challenges.
The event was also attended by the ambassadors of Belarus and Abkhazia, who together with local authorities honored the holiday established in 2002 to praise the work of the Russian foreign service.
