Marglad Bencomo, executive director of the Bolivarian Agency for Space Activities (ABAE), visited China’s new National Deep Space Exploration Laboratory (DSEL) on March 30 to discuss cooperation and exchanges. She was received by Wu Yanhua, former deputy director of the China National Space Administration (CNSA) and now executive vice president of DSEL.
In the statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, it is also said that they view the results of the meeting between Bencomo and Yanhua with “great expectation”.
ABAE was invited to attend an international forum organized by DSEL during China’s national “space day”, which has been held annually on April 24 since 2016, which could provide a platform to sign an MoU.
In 2021, China and Russia presented a roadmap for the joint ILRS in St. Petersburg and opened the project to interested parties.
