In a context where the cost of fuel increasingly impacts the family economy, the vehicular LPG is positioned as an option that generates savings from the first filling. This was pointed out by specialists from the energy sector during the VIII National Congress of Taps and Service Stationsheld in Lima.
Experts from Solgas indicated that the use of LPG can represent a savings of up to 50% compared to gasoline and around 30% compared to dieseldepending on the type of vehicle and daily mileage.
The use of LPG in the vehicle fleet grows
This economic benefit has driven the adoption of LPG nationwide. At the moment, more than 650 thousand vehicles in Peru they operate with this fuel, which is equivalent to almost 20% of the vehicle fleetmainly in private cars, taxis and urban transport.
Furthermore, the 35% of the total LPG consumption in the country is intended for vehicular use, supported by a network of more than 1,600 service stations at the national level.
Lower cost and less engine wear
One of the main attractions of vehicular LPG is its lower price compared to traditional fuels. For drivers who travel long distances daily, this differential translates into significant monthly savings, allowing resources to be allocated to maintenance or other operating expenses.
Likewise, LPG generates a cleaner combustionwhich reduces the build-up of debris in the engine. This is reflected in less wear on internal partsfewer mechanical failures and a longer vehicle lifeas explained by the specialists.
Reduction of polluting emissions
From an environmental point of view, vehicular LPG also offers advantages. This fuel allows you to reduce up to 68% nitrogen oxide emissions and close to 15% of carbon dioxidecompared to gasoline and diesel.
In cities with high traffic congestion, such as Lima, its use contributes to improve air quality and to reduce the environmental impact of urban transport.
“In a context of high cost of living and need for more sustainable options, LPG represents a real alternative for thousands of Peruvians. It combines savings, availability and lower environmental impact,” he noted. Alessandra Dentonecommercial director of Solgas.
Recommendations before converting a vehicle
The specialists recalled that, before opting for LPG, it is essential:
- Perform the conversion only in authorized and certified workshops.
- Verify that the system is approved and has a guarantee.
- Comply with the technical reviews corresponding.
These measures guarantee real savings and safe operation of the vehicle.
