Sales of model 1.0 vehicles, which are part of the sustainable car program, grew 11.35% last month compared to July 2024.
According to the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave), when compared to the previous month, June, the increase reached 13%.
“This is an employment in industry and employment in commerce,” celebrated the vice president and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin.
The data were presented to Alckmin by Fenabrave, this Saturday (2), during a visit to dealers in Brasilia.
The program, released less than a month ago By the federal government, it aims at decarbonization of the country’s automotive fleet through tax incentives, especially in relation to the tax on the Tax on Industrialized Products (IPI).
“President Lula has zepy. And the automakers also help with a good discount. It’s a success,” said the vice president.
To be entitled to IPI Zero, the car must meet four requirements: issue less than 83 grams of carbon dioxide (CO₂) per kilometer; contain more than 80% of recyclable materials; be manufactured in Brazil (steps such as welding, painting, engine manufacture and assembly); and fit into one of the compact car categories (brands entry vehicle).
At least five vehicle models, in different versions, were accredited by the program that guarantees IPI zero:
- Onix, from Chevrolet;
- Kwid from Renault;
- Polo, from Volkswagen;
- HB20, from Hyundai; and
- Fiat Mobi and Fiat Argo, from Stellantis.
With the measure, the price reduction of these models reached, in some cases, to $ 13,000.
For other vehicles that do not fit the IPI zero, the program establishes a new tax calculation system, which will still come into force, 90 days after the publication of the decree of Sustainable car program.
The new table starts from a base rate of 6.3% for passenger vehicles and 3.9% for light commercials, which will be adjusted by an addition and decrease system.
Calculation will take into account criteria such as energy efficiency, propulsion technology, power, safety level and recyclability index.
