As of today (26), the rotation of passenger cars circulating in the city of São Paulo is suspended by the city of São Paulo. The suspension is valid until January 6th and will come into force again on January 9th, restricting the movement of vehicles on the City’s Ring Road.
Operation Peak Time, better known as municipal vehicle rotation, restricts the movement of vehicles on the ring road in two periods: between 7 am and 10 am and between 5 pm and 8 pm, informed the municipal administration.
Also according to the agency, according to the norm that regulates the rotation, vehicles cannot circulate on one of the days of the week, between Monday and Friday, depending on the final number of their license plates.
The rotation of license plates for heavy vehicles (trucks) and the other restrictions: Zone of Maximum Restriction to Truck Circulation (ZMRC) and the Zone of Maximum Restriction to Chartering (ZMRF) remain valid. The suspension was published in official diary of the 15th of December.
During the rotation, vehicles are prevented from circulating in the Expanded Center, including the roads that delimit the so-called Mini Ring Road, formed by the Tietê and Pinheiros marginal roads, Bandeirantes and Afonso D´Escragnole Taunay avenues, Maria Maluf Viário Complex, Tancredo Neves and Provisional Boards, Greater São Paulo Viaduct and Professor Luís Inácio de Anhaia Melo and Salim Farah Maluf avenues.
On Mondays, cars with plates ending in 1 and 2 cannot drive through these areas; on Tuesdays, plates 3 and 4 are blocked; on Wednesdays, the finals 5 and 6; on Thursdays, plates end 7 and 8 and on Fridays, end 9 and 0.
Drivers who disrespect this rule are subject to a fine of R$ 130.16 and an addition of four points to the driver’s record, as driving in places and times not permitted by the regulations set forth in the Brazilian Traffic Code implies a level average.
