The production of motor vehicles increased 11.4% in March compared to February, reaching 184.8 thousand units. In comparison with March 2021, production was 7.8% lower. In the quarter there was also a drop when compared to the same period last year (-17%). The data are from the monthly balance sheet of the National Association of Automotive Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea), released today (8), in the capital of São Paulo.
“In addition to the issue of semiconductors, we had negative impacts from the Ômicron wave in the first two months of the year, due to its high rate of contagion, and an above-average volume of rain and flooding, affecting the displacement of customers and the operation of several concessionaires” , said the president of Anfavea, Luiz Carlos Moraes.
According to the data, the 146,800 vehicle units sold in March represented an increase of 10.9% over March and a decrease of 22.5% over the same month of 2021, when 189,400 units were licensed. In the year, sales fell by 23.2%, totaling 405,700, while in the same period last year this total was 527,900.
The calculation also shows that exports fell 6.2% in March compared to February, with the sale of 38,900 units in the foreign market, compared to 41,400 sold in February. In the first quarter, the shipment of 108,100 units represented an increase of 12.8% in exports. In the first quarter of last year, 95,800 vehicles were exported. Compared to March last year, there was growth of 5.8%.
