Vector control team fogging cemeteries prior to All Souls’ Day

A day of inspection and fogging was carried out by the vector control team of the Metropolitan Health Region at the Manuel Amador Guerrero cemetery in the town of Santa Ana.

The initiative arises prior to the day of the dead this November 2, in order to eliminate possible breeding sites for the adult Aedes Aegypty mosquito, in the cemeteries of the 23 townships.

The regional chief of Vectors Evelio Gaona mentioned that in the inspection carried out it was possible to observe some vases that held larvae.

He mentioned that the situation in the cemeteries are the tombs and the vaults, because they are without the proper covers and with the rains of the time, the water accumulates forming the nurseries.

The epidemiological statistics of the Metropolitan Region report that 2% is endemic, but that there are townships that maintain high rates of infestation and cases of dengue.

These townships are the ones with the highest number of confirmed cases Betania (10), Tocumen (9), Las Garzas (5), December 24 (9), Curundú (5), Ancón (3), Parque Lefevre (3) and Juan Diaz (3).

Health authorities recommend to people that they should watch the patios of their houses, the roofs, the buildings under construction; the cemeteries have rubble and debris that are not necessarily funeral acts, also reiterates to the population, not to lower your guard and follow the recommendations for vigilance and cleaning.
