Vecchio took stock of his management in the US and said that he will continue working for Venezuela

The representative in the US of the interim, Carlos Vecchio, said that his management focused on three fundamental pillars: political support, protection of Venezuelans in that country and the recovery of assets from Venezuela. He also apologized to the Venezuelans for the mistakes that he may have made during his administration.

Carlos Vecchio, who served as the representative in the United States of the interim government headed by Juan Guaidó, offered an assessment of his management at the head of the Venezuelan legation recognized by Washington, emphasizing that he continues to be committed to the fight for the freedom of the country.

In a video posted on Twitter, Vecchio explained that the representation in the US of the interim focused on three fundamental pillars: agglutinating bipartisan political support and increasing pressure against the administration of Nicolás Maduro; the protection of Venezuelans in the country and the recovery of assets that are abroad.

On the first point, the politician associated with Voluntad Popular said that “it was possible to turn the cause of the freedom of Venezuela (…) into a bipartisan cause.” He expressed that in his achievements is the promotion of the so-called “Truth Law” with his unanimous approval, which designs the policy of that country towards the Venezuelan nation.

He added that the first bipartisan group in favor of Venezuela was formed in Congress, which was transferred to other instances in the US, just as he recalled that Guaidó’s visit to the White House was promoted and he received the bicameral support of the Legislative Branch.

Regarding support for Venezuelans, Carlos Vecchio stressed that “together we advance in the protection of Venezuelans in the US, achieving implementation of TPS and recognition of expired passports. In addition, we bring relief to millions of Venezuelans in Venezuela and the region, making the US the largest donor of humanitarian aid, fully administered by them”, as well as consular assistance.

Regarding the recovery of Venezuela’s assets abroad, the politician assured that Citgo was placed to give “the greatest returns in its entire history”, recovering its operation and “financially healthy”.

He stressed that the legal strategy was developed in the US together with that country for its protection, as well as the country’s diplomatic headquarters. He said that they have asked that a fund be created so that all those assets seized as a result of corruption, serve to help Venezuelans.

Vecchio apologized to Venezuelans for the mistakes he may have made during his administration. “We did everything always thinking of a Free Venezuela and helping the largest possible number of Venezuelans.”

He added that “Venezuelans, together we have forcefully planted the seed of freedom. Triumph and freedom is for those who do not give up. The fight for the freedom of Venezuela is until it is achieved. Freedom or nothing!
