The case of José Gregorio Hernández, according to Father Gerardino Barrancchini, must first face a medical commission. He estimates that in the coming months the doctors may have a favorable opinion so that the second phase of the process can be passed, which is the theological commission.
Father Gerardino Barracchini, vice-postulator for the Cause for the canonization of Blessed José Gregorio Hernández, assured in the social networks of the Archdiocese of Caracas that the Holy See declared “urgency” in the file that documents the second miracle attributed to the Venezuelan doctor that would lead him to be a saint.
Barracchini asserted that the apostolic administrator of the aforementioned Archdiocese, Cardinal Baltazar Porras; the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolín, Monsignor Peña Parra, among others, “can come to fruition.”
He hopes that, once the medical chronology of the alleged miracle is reviewed, so that in the coming months an opinion can be obtained from the two medical experts before moving on to the theological commission that will analyze the case of José Gregorio Hernández.

Father Barracchini assured on Friday July 15 in an interview granted to Televen that the process for the sanctity of the current blessed was “very well channeled” and indicated that the “legal validity” of the file that Rome already has in its hands is currently awaited, for which he stressed that times “are shortening.”
He offered details of the case in which the intervention of the blessed is attributed to him. He said that he is a 53-year-old Venezuelan man who lives in Miami and that he had “multi-organ failure that compromised all the soft organs.” This patient was undergoing dialysis, his pancreas was “destroyed” and he needed a liver transplant. Meanwhile, the invocation to José Gregorio Hernández was made from the moment the subject entered the hospital to be treated, both individually and collectively.

On Tuesday, July 5, Cardinal Porras launched an estimate on the subject of canonization of Blessed José Gregorio Hernández, estimating that in six months the process by which the Venezuelan doctor would be named a saint would be satisfactorily completed.
He described the blessed as an “example and model.” “There is a true anecdote that, in Venezuela in the 20th century, oblivious to what was happening in the world, he was worried about World War I and offered his life to the Lord in his prayers if the war ended” and the end coincides of the war, the signing of the armistice with the death of José Gregorio”, he pointed out.
