The more than 20,000 fans who filled the Historic Hill did not take long to celebrate. Vasco started the match pressing Tombense and soon reached the first goal. At 3 minutes, Marlon Gomes received a long throw and played thigh to Nenê. Shirt 10 went to the baseline and played backwards. Andrey Santos appeared at the second post to finish, first, and open the scoring.

Tombense tried to respond with a long-distance shot from Everton Galdino, in the 9th minute, but Thiago Rodrigues was attentive and threw in a corner. Five minutes later, the same Everton had the chance to equalize. He kicked a free kick after a low cross that came from the right.

After pressure from Tombense, Vasco managed to control the game again. It gave space to the Minas Gerais team, didn’t take risks and came out with a lot of danger on the counterattack. The second goal did not come in the 22nd minute due to a beautiful save by Felipe Garcia. Marlon Gomes advanced on the right and crossed low to Nenê, who kicked hard, but stopped on the opposing goalkeeper.

Vasco got the second goal before the break, in a masterpiece by Marlon Gomes. After passing Yuri Lara’s fire, the Cruzmaltina jewel gave the first marker a sheet, advanced through the center, dribbled Ednei twice and kicked Felipe Garcia’s left corner to widen.

The home team came back better in the second half, but had to make a change early on. Marlon Gomes, the highlight of the match, felt pain in his left thigh and gave way to Figueiredo. And the striker missed a great opportunity in the 11th minute. He received a sugary pass from Andrey Santos and, face to face with the goalkeeper, hit the post.

With the dominance of the match, the coach Emílio Faro made other substitutions: he took Alex Teixeira for the entry of Bruno Tubarão, changed Raniel for Eguinaldo, and spared Nenê to put on Palacios. Seven minutes later, Vasco scored the third. Eguinaldo took advantage of the wrong ball from Tombense, advanced and played for Palacios. The Chilean passed first to Andrey Santos, who played in the right corner of Felipe Garcia.

Even at a disadvantage and with a second half worse than the first, Tombense took advantage of the opponent’s slowdown to leave their goal in São Januário. In the 39th minute, Everton made a good move down the left and kicked across. Thiago Rodrigues spread out to the middle and Matheus Frizzo appeared to give final numbers to the match.

In the next round, Vasco will face CSA, Thursday (18), at 20:00 (Brasília time), at Rei Pelé. Tombense takes the Sport, on the same day, at 9:30 pm, at Soares de Azevedo.
