Tourism Commissions and Directorates will hold their 2nd Congress in Melo
The Tourism Commissions and Area Directors from practically the entire country will meet next weekend at La Posta del Chuy and Centurión, places strategically chosen by the organizers.
Attendees will work in 7 subcommittees to analyze the following topics: social tourism, tourist circuits, ecotourism and tourism in protected areas, mobility in tourist areas, sports tourism, commercial and cultural tourism and tourism governance practices.
“With great joy we are announcing the 2nd Congress of Tourism Commissions and Directors of the entire country that will be held on Saturday the 22nd and Sunday the 23rd at La Posta del Chuy” confirmed Carlos Silva.
“We are also going to visit the town of Centurión” he added. “We thank the National Congress of Councilors, the President of the Departmental Board and the Mayor for their support. For us this is very important” said the President of the Tourism, Sports and Youth Commission.

“This really makes us feel very proud because back in 2023 that crazy idea was had, it was another legislative, but with Carlos Silva we were on the Commission. We did it in Laguna Merín and it really was a success” remembered Eliana Diaz.
“Maldonado was going to organize it last year and we don’t know why he didn’t do it. This year it was one of the first things that was decided together with the President of the Board to hold this 2nd meeting that has had a lot of work” remarked the Secretary of the Tourism Commission.
“Since on the previous occasion we left the bar very high, in this one we want to surpass or at least equal what was done. This time we are going to do it in La Posta del Chuy. On Friday the 21st the accreditations will begin to be received because surely there will already be delegations arriving in our city, while on Saturday the 22nd from early, from 8 in the morning we will already walk around La Posta with accreditations from 8 to 9 so that minutes later we will begin with the opening ceremony where we will also go to count on authorities from the Ministry of Tourism” He announced the program to be developed on the first day of work.
“So far we have 17 Departmental Boards that will be present here in Melo” confirmed the Mayor of the Frente Amplio.
“On Saturday afternoon we decided to move to Centurión as a way to make visible another tourist place in the department. We are going to be in the Customs area and then we will take a tour along one of the trails. On Sunday we will be culminating, again in La Posta del Chuy” he commented.
THE INTERIM MINISTER OF TOURISM WILL BE PRESENT
“When we assumed the presidency, it was one of the things we emphasized with this Commission, organizing the 2nd Meeting of Tourism Commissions and Directors” express Alejandro Lopez.
“As President of the Board I must congratulate the members of the Commission for the great Meeting that is being held. In addition to the 17 Boards that will be represented, the Tourism Commission of Deputies also confirmed the presence. The Mayor of Cerro Largo highlighted the work of the Board and in particular of the Tourism, Sports and Youth Commission.
“I see that from the smallest details they are putting everything in place to make it a great Meeting. I was now seeing the photos in the folder with the image of La Posta del Chuy that are recent because today it looks this way after having been in a dire state when we took office on July 11. Lizet Ruiz was empowered by the Tourism Office to revive that place” he stated. Christian Morel.
