The award-winning Peruvian writer and author of “The City and the Dogs”, Mario Vargas Llosaissued a letter of support to the government chaired by the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte. He considered that he “has been exercising his position in a very valuable way” despite the more than 60 deaths that he has left, so far, the clashes between the protesters —those who ask for the early elections— and members of the National Police and the Armed Forces.
“I am pleased to inform you that in two recent columns I have supported your induction into the presidency, which, strictly speaking, has been done in compliance with the law. You have been carrying out your position in a very valuable way, with the support of a significant number of Peruvians. Allow me to congratulate you for that too,” wrote the Peruvian Hispanic.
lines below, Vargas Llosa backed up how Dina Boluarte He has handled the crisis his government is facing in the face of the demonstrations calling for his resignation from office: “I think that, despite this agitation, as I mentioned, you have proceeded, in the performance of that high magistracyfairly in application of Peruvian standards.
Meanwhile, it considered that the actions of the Head of State and his ministers will find support in a sector of the population: “I have no doubt that Democrats support his conduct and what he clearly stands for.”
Boluarte appreciates the support of Vargas Llosa
In the official account of the Presidency of the Republic, the letter from the Nobel Prize for Literaturewho was previously a staunch opponent of the government of Pedro Castillowhich led him —in the framework of the second electoral round of 2021— to support Keiko Fujimori and, later, adding to the narrative without evidence of the alleged electoral fraud, which was later denied by the corresponding authorities.
