The Human Rights Committee of Vente Venezuela reported the release of leader Juan Iriarte, who was transferred two days ago to the Rodeo prison (Miranda state) despite his serious health conditions.
Iriarte, leader of Vente Venezuela in Maiquetía (Vargas state) was released during the night of Thursday, February 12, reported Orlando Moreno, coordinator of the committee.
«What a joy to have you back brother. Your strength and the ability with which you have resisted despite the conditions of confinement and your serious health situation is admirable. You are a great example,” Moreno stated in a publication on social networks.
The leader was imprisoned at the Sebin Helicoide headquarters and was later transferred to Yare II, in the state of Miranda.

«He has abscesses on his head with a strong picture of infection, added to chronic pneumonia for a month, for which he had to undergo surgery in the hospital. Iriarte has heart surgery and has an open sternum. Despite his precarious conditions, he will be transferred to El Rodeo I, which aggravates his situation,” warned the Vente team.
The coordinator of Vente Venezuela in Maiquetía was arrested in the early hours of June 15, 2024 at his home by security forces officials. He was presented before the Second Control Court with jurisdiction in Terrorism, along with the journalists Luis López and Gabriel González, as well as the youth activist of Voluntad Popular Jeancarlos Rivas.
The group was accused of the alleged crimes of incitement to hatred and association to commit a crime for participating in a march in Maiquetía to a National Guard command. They are currently released.
