The Gross Value of Agricultural Production (GVP) is expected to reach BRL 1.227 trillion this year, 2.4% more than the BRL 1.199 trillion recorded in 2021. The estimate was released by the Agricultural Policy Secretariat, of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Map).
According to the secretary, the growth of the VBP should be registered even with the drought in the south of the country during the planting months, one of the main factors impacting this year’s result.
“These results can be attributed, in general, to increases in production and prices”, says a note from the secretary.
The value of crops, according to the secretary, grew by 7.5%, and that of livestock suffered a retraction of 8.5% in the relation from one year to another.
Products with good VBP performance are cotton lint, a real increase of 42.2%; banana, 17.7%; English potato, 11.4%; coffee, 55.7% (conillon and arabica); sugarcane, 28.4%; beans, 8.7%; orange, 10%; corn, 24.1%; tomato, 32.6%; and wheat, 4.8%.
