“It has been requested, through the Minister of Finance, Mario Marcel, on behalf of the political committee, that this does not happen again,” added Vallejo.
Marcel’s Criticisms
President Sebastian Pinera announced this Tuesday the extension of the Labor IFE and the Protected Subsidy until June 30.
However, the next finance minister questioned the measure after meeting with the current minister of the portfolio, Rodrigo Cerdawithin the framework of the bilateral meetings for the transfer of command on March 11.
“It commits public resources, which have to do with measures that are implemented within the period of the next government without having had information about it,” said Marcel for the Executive’s announcement.
“We have asked the minister that, from now on, in the days remaining for the change of command, as far as possible no new measures are adopted that involve and commit public resources. And if it has to happen for x reasons, we can be informed in a timely manner.” I think it’s typical of a transition,” he said.
In this regard, Minister Cerda stated that “we are governing until the last day and that means that we make decisions in many areas every day and this is another decision that we had to make and this decision was made based on worrying about the jobs of the Chileans”.
“That is what governing is about, that does not mean that we cannot have good coordination with the incoming government, but we must recognize that we have to continue governing and worrying about the quality of life of Chileans until the last day and that is what we are going to be doing,” added the head of the Treasury.
