He Valenciawho played with substitutes, some players with ‘jet lag’, tied this Saturday 2-2 with the mexican teamlacking ideas in a friendly match in Puebla. With two goals from Dani Gómez, Baraja’s team equalized the Mexicans, who went ahead with scores from Alexis Vega and Ozziel Herrera, but were left behind in the last hour of the game.
Led by Javier Aguirre, Mexico had possession of the ball in their favor 70-30 in the first half and wasted better scoring options against a Valencia that stood well with a line of five and, despite not having several of its main figures looked good.
The Mexicans went on the attack and in the 8th minute they took advantage with a shot from Vega that hit the post, brushed goalkeeper Vincent Abril and entered the net. Grown, the Mexicans insisted on attacking and in the 13th minute goalkeeper Abril saved the visitors by stopping Guillermo Martínez, who arrived in the area with everything in his favor. Herrera accepted a ball and from outside the area made it 2-0, but little by little Baraja’s team got organized, stopped the Mexicans’ offensive feast and in the 42nd minute they scored with an elegant goal from Gómez, from the right and into the top corner.
In the second half, Valencia was patient, attacked, and in the 62nd minute they tied with Dani Gómez’s second goal, with a left-footed shot, which transformed the attitude of the fans, with whistles at the home team. With numerous changes on both sides, the game had little football in the last half.
Next Tuesday, Mexico will face the United States in Guadalajara, in the tri’s fourth meeting with coach Javier Aguirre, who has already failed twice with the national team and now has one victory and two draws.
