The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) announced the end of the intersemester vacations, so this January 27 begins the start of the 2025-2 school year, for students who are governed by the semester study plan and which will conclude on May 23, 2025.
Starting this Monday, 373,682 students and 42,615 academics will carry out their activities in 16 faculties, nine multidisciplinary units and five national schools.
However, students of the Faculty of Engineering will begin classes from February 4, since the re-enrollment process will restart from scratch, on January 30 of the current year.
Of the total student population, 32,578 correspond to postgraduate degrees; 233 thousand 346 to bachelor’s degree; 107 thousand 61 at the upper secondary level; and 697 at the technical and preparatory level of the Faculty of Music.
It should be noted that the school calendar of the National University establishes differentiated beginnings of the school cycles, which is why on January 6, the nine schools of the National Preparatory School – governed by the annual calendar – rejoined the 2024-2025 school year, the which began courses on August 5, 2024 and will conclude on April 25 of this year.
Meanwhile, the school year at the five campuses of the National School of Sciences and Humanities began on January 20; It is the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year and will end on May 16.
The calendar also indicates that for bachelor’s degrees that are governed by the annual plan, the school year will end on May 2, 2025.
‘Bridges’ at UNAM
In all cases, for the school year that begins and for the one that continues – semiannual and annual – five non-working days are considered: February 3, March 17, in addition to May 1, 10 and 15.
