The National Technological University (UTN) Regional La Plata will deliver for the first time the titles with rectified data to the transgender engineer Valentina Valkiria Zarattin, as established by the Gender Identity Law, reported that university.
The ceremony will be held next Friday in the Assembly Hall of the House of Higher Education, where authorities from the Ministries of Women, Gender and Diversity Nation and the province of Buenos Aires and representatives of feminist groups are expected to participate. trans, transvestite and from the tech community.
Valkiria Zarattin graduated with the second best average in 1990 and, after transitioning in 2018, she applied for the titles that recognize her with the assumed identity and that appears on her rectified document.
Upon request, the rectorate of the National Technological University issued the new titles requested by the engineer with the name corresponding to her self-perceived gender identity.
These procedures are framed in the Gender Identity Law 26,743, sanctioned in 2012, which aims to guarantee the free development of people according to their gender identity.
Valentina worked as an engineer in private companies such as Supercemento and Nordelta, and currently works in the area of inspections of Agua y Saneamientos Argentinos (AySA).
