Madrid Spain.- The United States government demanded the release of Lorenzo Rosales Fajardo, pastor of the Monte de Sion Church, sentenced by the Cuban regime to seven years in prison for his participation in the popular demonstrations on July 11, 2021.
“The Municipal Court of Palma Soriano ratified the sentence of seven years in prison for pastor Lorenzo Rosales Fajardo who peacefully protested the 11J”, highlighted the Embassy of the United States in Havana through Twitter.
“We join the European Parliament (EP) to request the release of Pastor Rosales and other political prisoners,” said the consular headquarters.

Last week the appeal trial took place, in which the regime ratified the sentence.
According to the pastor’s wife, Maridilegnis Carballo, the trial was manipulated by State Security and the 15 witnesses were all from the Prosecutor’s Office.
Carballo also indicated that the charge of attack was maintained “without any evidence or basis that evidences the aggression.”
“The person who was supposedly the victim did not even appear,” he added.
In December 2021 the European Parliament approved a resolution which condemned “the systematic abuses against protesters, political dissidents, religious leaders, human rights defenders and independent artists in Cuba.”
The resolution, approved with 393 votes in favor, 150 against and 119 abstentions, demanded the release of Lorenzo Rosales Fajardo; as well as José Daniel Ferrer, Félix Navarro and Luis Manuel Otero, among others.
Last May, after learning of the sentence against Lorenzo Rosales, the spokesperson for World Christian Solidarity, Kiri Kankhwende, declared that more had to be done “so that the Communist Party of Cuba is accountable for injustices committed against the people of the island by people like The Shepherd”.
