USA-CUBA exports continue to grow: food and cars mark the step

The arrival of products from USA Cuba remained up for 2024, mainly driven by the import of food and vehicles, specified from the different forms of economic management that currently live on the island.

Data managed By the Economic Council Cuba-EEUU illustrate the magnitude of the growth of this activity compared to the previous year, confirming a trend that began in 2021 with the implementation of new regulations for commercial exchange between the two nations.

According to the source, a non -profit organization based in New York City, exports of food products compiled during the past year amounted to a value of 433 895 992 million dollars.

This figure translates into an increase of more than 91 million compared to the statistics corresponding to 2023.

In that section, the largest purchase volumes stand out in highly deficient lines on the island, such as bird and pork meat, to which sugar and eggs have joined in recent times.

The same dynamic, although with more significant increases, can be seen in the shopping line of new and used vehicles in the United States, which went from 8 594 089 million dollars in 2023 to 64 747 001 in the last year.

53.3 % increase agricultural and food exports from the US to Cuba in September

Although the United States Government maintains trade with the island, these exchanges are possible within the framework of the Law on Reform of Commercial Sanctions and Improvement of Exports (TSREEA) of 2000, the Cuban Democracy Law (CDA) of 1992 and the regulations implemented (1992 to date) for other products by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the United States Department of the Treasury and the Office of Industry and Security (BIS) of the United States Department of Commerce.

The TSREEA again authorized direct commercial (cash) of food products (including brand food products) and agricultural products from the United States to the Republic of Cuba, regardless of the purpose.

Clarifies the publication that related amounts do not include transportation expenses, bank expenses or other costs associated with exports.
