The United States exceeded one million deaths from covid-19as announced by the White House on Thursday, at a time when the country wants to turn the page despite an increase in cases for a month.
“Today we reached a tragic milestone: one million American lives lost to covid-19“President Joe Biden said in a statement, in which He asked to remain “vigilant” in the face of the pandemic “as much as possible” to save lives.
“A million empty chairs around the dining room table,” Biden said. “Each one is an irreplaceable loss. Each leaving behind a family, a community and a nation forever changed.”

Biden spoke this Thursday in a virtual world summit on covid that sought to “redouble” international cooperation against the virusaccording to a senior US official.
The summit led to new financial commitments for more than 3,000 million dollarsannounced the White House, which is fighting for its part to finance its own policy to fight the pandemic.
Of that sum, 2,000 million dollars will be allocated to an “immediate” response to the health emergencyand 962 million to a World Bank fund for the prevention of future pandemics, according to the US Executive.

The United States announced that will increase its participation in this fund by 200 million dollarswhich will raise its total contribution to 450 million.
