Tom Homan expects a constant flow on deportation flights from the US to Venezuela to meet the objective of minimizing irregular migration

The so -called American “Tsar of the Frontera”, Tom Homan, reported this Friday, February 7 that the United States Government (USA) will resume deportation flights to Venezuela in March.

This was indicated in an interview with New York Timeswhere he said there will be several flights but without specifying the number of those that will be carried out.

“This will happen within the next 30 days, and I can’t tell you how many; We are still working on all those details, ”he said.

He said that it is “great” the achievement achieved by President Donald Trump on the matter, who expects a constant flow in this process.

The announcement comes a week after President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Richard Grenelll, visited Caracas to meet with President Nicolás Maduro, where migratory issues were touched. It must be remembered that there had been a similar process several years ago, but it was suspended by Venezuela.

Nicolás Maduro met on Friday, January 31 with Grenell at the Miraflores Palace in Caracas. On this meeting, the special envoy of the United States for Latin America, Mauricio Claver-Carone, affirmed a press conference that the trip of the high official to Venezuela was not a negotiation.

Subsequently, In an interviewGrenell said that Maduro puts the planes to carry out the return of Venezuelan migrants to the country.

“President Maduro told me: ‘We are going to give you this, and these are the things we want,” he recalled. “And I said: ‘No, we are giving you a great gift, and the great gift is that I am sitting with you, you have all kinds of cameras around and you will use this for propaganda purposes’ … the gift was a conversation, a Hope of a different future and an American diplomat sitting there, ”he said.

This occurs within the framework of the suspension of the extension of the Temporary Protection Statute (TPS), which affects more than 350 thousand Venezuelans in the US.

*Journalism in Venezuela is exercised in a hostile environment for the press with dozens of legal instruments arranged for the punishment of the word, especially the laws “against hatred”, “against fascism” and “against blockade.” This content is being published taking into account the threats and limits that, consequently, have been imposed on the dissemination of information from within the country.
