The Secretary of State of the United States (USA), Anthony Blinken, will travel to Colombia, next Monday, October 3.
During the visit, the Joe Biden government official is expected to meet with Colombian President Gustavo Petro.
According to EFE, Blinken’s visit to Colombia is part of the agenda of meetings that the Colombian president has had with envoys from the administration of USA deal with issues such as anti-drug policy, climate change and the preservation of the Amazon.
According to the National Radio of Colombia, Blinken will be received by Foreign Minister Álvaro Leyva Duran and will head the fifth delegation sent by the US president to the neighboring country.
Also next week, but on October 6, the US Secretary of State will travel to Peru, where he will meet with President Pedro Castillo. The meeting will take place during the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) to be held in Lima from October 5 to 7.
In the Peruvian case, the US official is expected to address issues such as the strengthening of democracy, cooperation to reduce social gaps, the fight against transnational organized crime, the revitalization of the commercial economic relationship and joint efforts to combat global warming.
This Thursday, Blinken noted, on his Twitter account, that the US took more measures “to disrupt efforts to evade sanctions on the sale of Iranian oil and petrochemical products.”
