US Secretary of Energy arrives in the country: "Visit is key to Trump's vision"

The US Secretary of Energy’s agenda includes meetings with Delcy Rodríguez, head of the Venezuelan Executive and Minister of Hydrocarbons, at the Miraflores Palace. Chris Wright also plans to meet with executives from oil companies such as Chevron and Repsol

The Secretary of Energy of the United States, Chris Wright, arrived in the country this Wednesday, February 11 as part of the agreements that Donald Trump’s administration is promoting on the Venezuelan government in energy matters, after the capture of Nicolás Maduro on January 3.

«His visit is key to advancing President Donald Trump’s vision of a prosperous Venezuela. “The American private sector will be essential to boost the oil sector, modernize the electrical grid and unlock Venezuela’s enormous potential,” pointed out on social networks the US charge d’affaires, Laura Dogu, confirming the arrival of the official.

On behalf of Venezuela, Wright was received by the Vice Minister of Petroleum, Paula Henao. The secretary’s agenda includes meetings with Delcy Rodríguez, head of the Venezuelan Executive and Minister of Hydrocarbons, at the Miraflores Palace. He also plans to meet with executives from oil companies such as Chevron and Repsol.

During his stay, scheduled until Friday, he will reportedly take a tour of Petropiar, the largest oil project in the Orinoco Belt operated jointly by Chevron and PDVSA.

Secretary Wright’s visit occurs one day after the US Department of the Treasury issued a general license authorizing the exploration and production of oil and gas in Venezuela, as well as the maintenance and repair of existing equipment.

After the US military operation at various points in Caracas, La Guaira and Miranda, Donald Trump’s government announced “control” over sales of Venezuelan oil, including the crude oil that was stored. The money raised will go to two social investment funds, as announced by Delcy Rodríguez.

As part of these operations, the National Assembly reformed the Hydrocarbons Law with the objective of allowing greater foreign participation in the exploration, exploitation and export operations of Venezuelan crude oil, as well as better benefits for investors.
